ageing disorder Progeria with an average life expectancy of 16. Her
diminutive stature and physical appearance are that of a very old
person, a result of the disease. Paradoxically her will to live what
remains of her brief life is as powerful as it is impatient. She has an
intrepid soul. Kimberly is basically the adult surrounded by parents
who are neither particularly educated or smart; they do not have the
Otools' to cope with Kimberly's disease. As a result, she is daughter,
parent, teen & grandmother. In other words Kimberly is a sweet 16
who's never been kissed but has already gone through menopauses.

the details of his amour with Shirley, Jerry is himself more than eager

closest friends, Melissa is beautiful, confident, sophisticated and fun.
Intent on getting into Yale, but conflicted about her adoption of a

Michael Berman, Melissa is coldly pragmatic in her analysis of the
event, and quickly agrees to become the "babysitter" for Michael's
horndog friend Jerry. Cynically convinced that she and Shirley will get
away with their crimes because they're still minors, Melissa backs up
Shirley all the way in her efforts to recruit their girlfriends to expand
their college funds via acts of prostitution, and turns out to rather

she's clueless and uneasy about her new line as a babysitter-hooker.
Quite good at consoling the guilty, insecure middle-aged men who
want to screw her, Brenda becomes quite popular at her trade, but
when she brings her pretty, ambitious sister into the circle, Brenda
pushes her luck to the limit, and Shirley's organization starts to selfdestruct...

[NADINE WOODBERG] 18 - 22 to play 16-17, Brenda's svelter,
prettier sister, Nadine is a popular girl who has a circle of sidekicks.
Fond of putting Brenda down, Nadine claims to find her sister
annoying -- until Brenda shows her a way to make a lot of money on
the side. Convinced she's smart enough to outwit Shirley, Nadine
joins the call-girl ring, but starts making dates on the side and balks
at paying Shirley her cut. Too greedy to succeed as a hooker, Nadine
almost gets herself killed when she forces Shirley to protect her
criminal organization in the traditional manner: physical

[GAIL BERMAN] Michael's wife, tense and pretty, she's the mother of
their two young sons and she's in charge of the household decor:
fussy, over-decorated, too busy. Used to a regular, stable life in
which she's got her husband just a little bit whipped, Gail is blind to
the signs that Michael wants some fun and hijinks in his life, that he's
bored witless and ready to cause trouble. Unaware that Michael is
having an affair with Shirley, Gail gets her first big hint that all's not
well in her marriage when Michael is demoted from an important
project. Miserable at her sudden unexpected loss of status, Gail
senses that something big is going on behind the scenes...LEAD
[SCOTT MIRAL] "A 4:20 hipster," Scott is the stepbrother of Brenda
and Nadine Woodberg, and he's quite atracted to Shirley. Unaware
that she's in the middle of a passionate affair with Michael Berman,
Scott pursues her in an earnest but charmless manner, and has no
idea why she doesn't respond much to him. Soulful and a little shy,
but that usually works with the girls who paint their fingernails black.
Hasn't grown into his body yet...30 lines, 11 scenes
[STU LYNER] 45 years old, a rumpled attorney with thinning hair and
an innocuous face, Stu is a shabby-looking lawyer who works at
home, out of the basement. Barely successful enough to support a
family of three (with help from his working wife), Stu is clueless
about his daughter's outside activities, and his lame efforts to find
out about Shirley's private life meet a stone wall. But later, Shirley's
taciturnity proves problematic when Stu is found screwing Nadine.
Beaten when Jerry Tuchman attacks him, Stu later has to confront
his horrified daughter, and has to lie to his wife about his broken

[MARK KESSLER] A soft and balding man, married to Lisa, he's the
father of two screaming brats, and he too is looking for some action
on the side. After hiring Brenda to be his "babysitter," Mark drives
her home -- but he's miserably guilty and unhappy, and he bursts
into tears. Consoled by the maternal Brenda, Mark becomes a regular
client of Shirley's circle, but he's far less comfortable about his life as
a john than the swaggering Jerry Tuchman...1 speech & 19 lines, 6

[DEB] Shirley's mother, Stu's wife. A nurse. Early to mid-50s, maybe
older. Lower middle-class, hasn't aged well. Friendly toward Shirley,
but tired from a life of work. Never around.

would say a little obnoxious). A laugh that can annoy a crowded
restaurant. Married to Jerry.
[IRA] (BALD MAN) 40's. Not necessarily bald, but definitely not a

Your average middle-aged, Midwestern, middle-class, married man.
Not terribly expressive, a touch impatient and gruff.
[ALI TOWNE] 18+ to look 17. Classic Midwestern popular girl. A
follower, not a leader. Loves the attention she gets from the rest of
the school.
[BARBARA YATES] 18+ to look 16. Another popular girl. A constant
scowl, never looks happy. Disgusted by everyone and everything.
The attitude covers something insecure and damaged.

Story Line: Nice guy Ben Murphy gets up the courage to propose to his beautiful, assertive girlfriend Sadie Jones. Sadie and Bed have no idea what they're getting into when they walk into the quirky man of God's office, but when they leave, they have a wedding date two weeks away and a mandatory marriage prep course they must pass. [DUKE BALDWIN] A 19 yr. old trumpet player from Seattle, Washington who goes to college on a music scholarship. Although he grew up in the suburbs, Duke's parents cut him off financially when he turned 18. His parents believe that men should work for what they want. Since Duke saw the same scenario played out with his two older brothers, he took his fate with characteristically good humor. He works when he's not playing and is amazingly adept at making something at of nothing.
[MIRANDA SEALS] 19 yr. old military brat from Detroit, Michigan. Miranda is a free spirit with a shoe fetish. Coming from a strict home, Miranda wasn't allowed to do much so she really enjoys the freedom that college brings. She has a great relationship with her mom but has a strained relationship with her father. He does not understand what he considers her "unorthodox ideals." Miranda has a great work ethic, which makes her a favorite among professors and employers. She is adaptable and makes friends very easily.
[JOHN BOY "JB" JONES] A 19 yr. old country boy from Orangeburg, South Carolina. J.B. is the third of four children. His father works as a carpenter and his mother works for the phone company. His family doesn't have much money and he is the first person in his entire family to go to college. J.B. is very John Denverish. He has a subtle southern charm about him.
[STEVE] A kindly man in his late 40s early 50's. While working at Merrill Lynch, he lost his temper, cursed out his boss and got fired from his very lucrative job. After months of pounding the pavement, the only job he could get was as the Financial Aid Director at Ransom University. And after 15 years, he's still there. Steve is the glue that holds the office together. He's even-tempered and helpful. Steve is very understanding of the students needs because he remembers what it was like to be penniless. He is very tolerant of his staff because they're the only ones who survived the "the first day of school madness." All the other help that Steve employed quit after the first week.
[JANE] A cantankerous Financial Aid Assistant in her mid 40's. Generally, Jane does not like to be bothered by anyone. She wants to talk on the phone and watch her soaps. She has a smart mouth. She's been working in financial aid for ten years and has seen a lot of stuff. Basically, she's over it. She believes that most of the students are ungrateful and they don't deserve help. Her biggest pet peeve are work-study students. She thinks it's silly to give a job to a student who eventually will leave and make more money over a person who has "real" bills to pay.
[PETER] A slacker in his mid to late 30', from Newark, NJ. Peter came to Ransom University as a temp. Because he made it through the first two weeks,(he was loaded), they hired him. His position is union, which makes him practically un-fireable. They keep unsuccessfully sending him to rehab and therapy. Peter has no real direction. His goals in life are to pay his bills, get laid, and get loaded. He enjoys how he lives. He understands that in the world there are haves and have-not's. He's a have not and that's okay.
[MRS. KAYHILL] The no-nonsense, by-the-book Housing Director. She is a woman in her late 40's early 50's. Ms. Kayhill has been in her position for twenty years. She takes her job very seriously.

Fred Gibson's apartment building. He is the first to inform Roe that
Fred Gibson no longer resides there. He refers her to the
superintendent for more information.
