PROJECT
AMERICAN MODELS ADVENTURE #15
Los Angeles, CA – June 6, 2007 – America Now Productions is proud to be returning to South America, where they are always warmly welcomed and embraced by the South American people and international press.
Since America is the Sport Fashion capital of the world, America Now has assembled a fresh new group of models for a trip and photo shoot in the magical, mystical AMAZON JUNGLE that, on the last trip, the American models called “Paradise on Earth.” The Amazon Jungle provides one of the most gorgeous land reservations still existing. The group will journey to one of the most magnificent rivers in the world, where they will be promoting fashion and conservation.
In 2004, the late Jack Valenti, President of the MPAA, approved the Amazon project and commended producer Fredy Granda for his efforts in enlightening his models and staff as to the ecological threats to the precious Amazon environment, while embarking on his "best adventure" thus far.
The new group of models is excited to be repeating the overwhelming success of the previous several trips South of the Border. For America Now’s 15th trip will help illuminate the beauty of local wildlife and scenery. The Univision Network USA and Primer Impacto plan to showcase the young American models in the most pure form available – in the Amazon Jungle – produced by Fredy Granda!! The models will appear on television shows and in still photos. These portraits will be taken on location to be used on the covers of major international magazines and in fashion editorials.
America Now gives new models a chance to be discovered and work around the world in exotic locations. The models are proud to be traveling to the Amazon to educate and inform people of the serious agenda of protecting the Rain Forest and Ecosystem. The print and television exposure will provide American models with valuable experience in the entertainment industry and a look into the serious side of the modeling and show business world.
Come and learn how the models and staff risk their lives all in the name of fashion and conservation. The adventure will feature the visibility and the adaptation of wildlife to television and photography. Previous expeditions provided U.S. and international editions of magazines such as Maxim, Men’s Health, Men’s Fitness, Harper’s Bazaar Men, Elle Men, GQ and Japan's GQ and Germany’s Fit for Fun with images from the illustrious wildlife adventure.
This year America Now Productions is proud to continue their support of homeless teen charities and organizations throughout the U.S. and internationally. During a hectic week of TV interviews, press conferences and photo shoots in Peru, Fredy and his models made time to learn about the Rain Forest, Peruvian culture and help local homeless children. Fredy is looking forward to his 15th Annual Amazon trip, taking place in October 2007, and is currently casting for models.

To be honest, I didn’t really know what to expect out of Peru. In fact, I can safely say that most of us were a bit apprehensive about the trip as a whole. Fredy constantly reassured us that everything was going as planned, and that there was nothing to worry about. However, the fact that the photo shoot took place on a completely different continent provoked a bit of anxiety. Fortunately, shortly after arriving in Lima, I realized that I was worrying for no reason. From a professional standpoint, everything went along like clockwork. We were up by seven in the morning, and spent all day recording for various television shows. The locations for the shoots really have to be seen to be appreciated, ranging from exotic monuments at the top of unbelievably tall mountaintops to exotic beaches at sunset. And that was just Peru…
We spent two days in Lima, Peru before flying to Brazil for our excursion into the Amazon. After an hour-long boat ride down the Amazon River, we docked at this tropical, Robinson Crusoe fantasyland that we discovered was to be our home for the next four days. Let me see if I can actually do this place justice. I think I’ve seen fireflies maybe five times in my life. At nighttime, the entire area is lit up by millions of them. Because of the lack of electricity so far in the jungle, all of the pathways are outlined with lanterns, so you can find your way around. At nighttime, the sky turns purple from the stars, creating an almost surreal atmosphere to the already intoxicating jungle. Unfortunately, no amount of explaining can ever do the Amazon justice, as you really have to visit there to fully understand how beautiful the place really is. You can take canoes through tunnels of jungle that are totally lit up by fireflies. If you’ve ever seen Peter Pan, you’re in the ballpark
Almost more gratifying than the scenery are the people. I don’t think that I’ve ever met more accommodating, more genuine, people in all my life. All the usual angst and stress that normally knots up in the stomach completely goes away down there. The opportunity to see how happy and real the community is down there was very educational. Because of their generosity, we were able to hold baby jaguars and three-toed sloth, not to mention 20-foot long anacondas. With the scenery and the people combined, it honestly made leaving extremely difficult to do.
I will never forget this trip as long as I live. Not only for the good graces of Fredy, but for the overwhelming generosity of the people of Peru and Brazil. The Rain Forest itself will take your breath away. The amount of wildlife that inhabits the forest is staggering. What really stands out, however, is the way that people can live with the wildlife, and be perfectly content without the craziness of a city.
We would all like to thank Fredy Granda and America Now Productions for this incredible opportunity to visit the Amazon, not only for our respective careers, but for our overall perspectives as well.
